    Supporting Your Business

    The government has provided a new round-up of the financial support available to UK businesses.

    The update provides a list of links for pages highlighting the help businesses can access including eligibility, when the schemes open and how to apply. Visit gov.uk for more information.

    The government announced in the last budget updates on the existing support measures and introduced some new initiatives that will provide help for businesses dealing with the economic impact of the pandemic.

    We will review our information and provide links to the relevant government pages as they are refreshed and published.

    The headlines are:

    • COVID-19 economic support package. The government has announced additional economic support to help businesses who have been most impacted by the Omicron variant.
    • A new UK-wide Recovery Loan Scheme to make available loans between £25,001 and £10 million, and asset and invoice finance between £1,000 and £10 million, to help businesses of all sizes through the next stage of recovery.

    Redundancies and County Durham JobsFuse

    Restructuring is an inevitable consequence of COVID19, especially during this period of furlough. Help is at hand for employers and employees through the Jobs Fuse service in County Durham. The service is run in partnership with the Department for Work and Pensions, (DWP) National Careers Service (NCS) and Durham County Council.

    The offer for those at risk of redundancy, or made redundant includes:
    Help with compiling/updating a C.V
    Support with job search including the use of Social media ie., LinkedIn, Twitter
    Interviewing Skills
    Support for those considering self-employment as an option
    Careers Advice & Guidance to include identification of transferable skills
    Job matching – sharing of local opportunities
    Access to short job focussed training.
    Advice and information on benefits. How to make a claim and what is expected.
    Money & Pension Advice

    The County Durham Jobs Fuse is a free service which helps employers and job seekers in the area by promoting local vacancies to those who are immediately available to start work.

    Health and Wellbeing at Work

    Durham County Council are working to support employers and voluntary and community organisations to address health issues in the workplace. Confidential telephone support and advice is available 24 hours a day from PAM Wellbeing Limited.

    Small and medium-sized enterprises and voluntary and community sector organisations can benefit from free training and support to improve workforce mental health and wellbeing, raise awareness of the importance of good mental health and reduce the stigma associated with these issues.
