Durham Business Growth
The Durham Business Growth and Productivity Programme is a comprehensive initiative designed to elevate productivity and foster growth within businesses located in County Durham.
This strategic undertaking is dedicated to not only creating a robust economic environment but also ensuring the creation of quality employment opportunities, all within the framework of an inclusive and sustainable green economy.
Operating from September 2023 to March 2025, this programme represents a pivotal period for businesses seeking to thrive and contribute to the regional economic landscape.
Finance Durham is a £20m investment fund from Durham County Council which will help businesses in County Durham grow creating thousands of jobs. It is managed by Business Durham and administered by Maven Capital Partners.
The Fund provides flexible equity, debt or mezzanine funding packages from £150,000 to £2 million for early stage and established businesses, investing across all sectors. It is available to companies which are based in, or relocating to, County Durham at the time the investment or loan is made. The Fund is designed for businesses that need funding to grow, and can support a wide range of business finance needs.
Finance Durham
We have strong links with banks and financial intermediaries, and we’ve supported several companies to access venture capital and government grants, such as NBSL and Finance for Business North East.
The North East Growth Hub has a searchable database with over 70 funds.
Innovate UK and Horizon 2020 are specific funding sources for innovation and R&D.
There are often initiatives to support specific sectors, such as automotive, offshore, space, nuclear, and the process industry.
