Approval For Village Housing Scheme In County Durham

The seal of approval has been given to a housing scheme aiming to provide new homes to a County Durham village.

Brought forward by Ravensworth Property Developments, the scheme involves the construction of 40 residential properties on land to the north of The Forge in Bowburn.

The outline plans comprise eight, two-bed, 17, three-bed, 13, four-bed and two, five-bed homes, with 20 per cent of the properties allocated as affordable housing.

A total of 101 car parking spaces have also been proposed, along with 17 visitor parking bays.

The applicant has said that the proposed development will support construction jobs, alongside jobs in the supply chain and related services.

A statement lodged with Durham County Council on behalf of the applicant said: “Overall, the proposals will deliver economic, social and environmental gains.”

The approximately four-acre application site sits within the Integra 61 masterplan.
