Improvement works in a County Durham town have helped to secure 50 jobs and boost trade for independent businesses.
Durham County Council has been delivering support in Spennymoor as part of its continued targeted investment in town centres. The council has been carrying out enhancement works across the town, including the installation of new paving, handrails, and lighting in the marketplace to create a dedicated space for future public events.
Bespoke lighting columns have also been put in place to project patterns onto the pavements and nearby buildings which will change with the seasons, creating a “vibrant” atmosphere within the town centre year-round.
