Economic boost for Bishop Auckland with six-figure government funding

A County Durham market town has secured six-figure funding to support its local economy through the disruption caused by COVID-19.

Bishop Auckland has secured a government grant of £750k to revitalise its economy in the wake of the pandemic and subsequent upheaval.

Durham County Council has worked with the Bishop Auckland Stronger Town Board to use the grant to fund projects that aim to assist in the regeneration of the town.

Cllr Carl Marshall, Durham County Council’s Cabinet member for economic regeneration, commented: “This additional investment in Bishop Auckland is vital to help drive forward the regeneration efforts across the town.
