A new care home, which could create between 50 and 60 jobs in Durham, looks set to be backed by the council.
The facility is designed for the elderly and would comprise three-storeys with 66 bedrooms.
The application was put forward by LNT Care Developments on land west of the Durhamgate development centre in Spennymoor.
It is proposed on one of the last remaining plots within the development, which was originally identified for office or commercial use.
