Housebuilder Stonebridge Homes has secured planning permission to build almost 100 homes in Barnard Castle, creating about 150 jobs during the construction period.
The company secured planning consent for 97 homes at a site on Darlington Road which will be known as Ashtree Park.
The scheme will comprise a mix of three, four and five-bedroom homes and bungalows on 13.8 acres of land close to the town centre, including a fifth being offered as affordable properties.
About 60 full-time jobs will be supported on site during the construction phase, with a further 90 roles being indirectly supported through substantial investment in the regional supply chain.
