    Investment boost for glass manufacturer after profitable year

    Durham-based Clayton Glass has outlined plans for major investment into its machinery and increasing its capacity, following a successful year where turnover and pre-tax profits increased.

    The Stanley-headquartered company, which was founded in 1956, manufactures and supplies insulating glass units including products supplied to the residential window, door and conservatory market in the UK.

    In its recently filed accounts to 31 December 2021, turnover climbed from £31.9m to £43.9m. The business also reported pre-tax profits of £1.3m, up from a pre-tax loss of £213,467 in the prior period.

    A report alongside the results that that the figures reflected organic growth which was also enhanced by the 2020 Covid-19 lockdown.
