Lady Renderer ‘spreads’ the word for brand new business accommodation

County Durham plasterer and renderer Kimberley Bourne and her husband Gary have launched a sustainable cottage with a focus on business guests offering a place to unwind and relax in the hectic modern working world.

Stay Northside is a two Bedroom cottage in the village of Middridge, County Durham which offers modern facilities, home comfort and character; coupled with the serenity so hard to find in a hotel environment. Kimberley said “I think business guests need more than a hotel room when they work away from home regularly. It’s the craving of home cooking in your own kitchen, somewhere quiet and a space to relax – which is exactly what we have created here”.

The husband and wife building team started to work on Stay Northside eighteen months ago when the cottage needed full renovation which, needless to say was done ‘in-house’ by the couple. Kimberley said, “We renovated an old cottage to modernise the facilities whilst keeping the character and tradition at heart. Stay Northside ticked all the boxes – it even has a village pub just across the green”.

With a rendering business, landscaping business and children in tow the renovating took a little longer than expected but the family-run business opened last month and is already getting fantastic feedback from guests.

Stay Northside offer a log burner, working area, wi-fi, smart TVs, full kitchen, dual shower and king-size bed to name a few facilities. The downstairs boasts beamed ceilings, a full kitchen and an outdoor seating area overlooking the village green too. Relaxing and unwinding are so important, so the team want to heavily promote this by providing a calm and relaxed environment.

“We want the local businesses in the area to be able to book directly with us so we can offer bespoke packages and be on hand if they need anything. The OTA’s (online travel agents) can be so impersonal” said Kimberley who began her career in hospitality before retraining in the construction industry.
