National education and training provider, Learning Curve Group (LCG), is again launching its Apprenticeship Academy for the fourth time. They will be recruiting apprentices to join the team at their head office in Spennymoor, County Durham.
The Purple People Apprenticeship Academy is open to anybody, whether it be young people who have left school, individuals looking to take a first step into employment, or people who are looking for a career change.
LCG will be recruiting for apprentices to enrol onto our award-winning training programmes in Business Administration and Customer Service which will help fill essential skills gaps in the region.
As one of the region’s largest employers and one of the country’s largest training providers, Learning Curve Group recognised their responsibility in providing young people in the region with opportunities to progress into employment.
Learning Curve Group have always adopted a ‘practice what you preach’ approach, and after huge success in their external provision of apprenticeships, they recognise the opportunity to provide their exceptional training programmes in-house too.
One of their core values is to develop and empower their staff, or ‘Purple People’, through the Purple People Academy and regular CPD opportunities.
LCG have successfully trained three cohorts of apprentices through their Apprenticeship Academy, 90% of whom have progressed to secure permanent positions with the training provider. One of these apprentices is James McGlynn who is now an MIS administrator at LCG.
James said “I started on my Business Administration Apprenticeship with LCG in September 2021 and began my role as an MIS Apprenticeships Administrator – over the next year and a half, I worked towards accomplishing my apprenticeship standard and ended up achieving a distinction grade in April 2023.
Throughout my employment with LCG I’ve been given fantastic opportunities and support with both my apprenticeship programme and my ability to excel in my role, this has been largely due to my team and managers continually investing in my skills and allowing me to take on a wide range of different responsibilities that have helped me grow into a confident, skilled, and vigilant member of my team.”
The apprentices will work across a range of departments including Customer Care, Recruitment, Finance and Bids and Contracts. LCG aim to maximise potential, and support young people take their first step on the career ladder to resolve skills shortages and provide opportunities to those who may not feel a traditional route into college is for them.
CEO of LCG, Brenda McLeish OBE DL, has said “I am extremely excited to launch our fourth cohort of our Purple People Apprentice Academy. We strive to provide young people in the region with opportunities to upskill and enter the employment market, and our apprenticeship academy does just that!
Having employees that can meet the needs of our ever-growing business and that can upskill, professionally develop, and train as they work has hugely supported employee retention and productivity, alongside how we have built our talent pipelines in house!
It is fantastic to be able to give young people in the local area an opportunity to learn the specific skills that are needed to progress in the modern-day workforce and begin successful careers at Learning Curve Group”.
