Nanotech firm Seeds expands North East base as it eyes space and defence uses for printable ink

Energy storage and generation innovator Seeds has expanded its County Durham base to further its ‘deep tech’ work.

The specialist in advanced carbon nanostructures has grown into additional office space and new laboratories at NETPark’s Discovery 1 building as it researches use of its technologies in different industries. Seeds, which stands for Sustainable Energy Efficient Designed Structures Ltd, says it has carried out significant work into developing printable inks using graphene nano-fibre technology.

The technology is said to capture and store energy and the firm’s supercapacitors – devices that collect voltage as current flows through an electric circuit and can then release it rapidly – can be used to provide additional power.
