Northumbrian Water has delivered a huge boost to the North East economy, helping to enable and sustain thousands of jobs, and re-investing millions of pounds over the last year, by sourcing local goods and suppliers.
As one of the largest businesses in the region, the water company had set itself an ambitious goal to make sure that by 2025, at least 60p of every £1 it spends is with local suppliers.
Now, three years earlier than planned, the company has announced it has reached its goal, with its suppliers re-spending more than £130 million in the area on the local supply chain during 2021/2022 and creating nearly 3,000 jobs along the way.
