Work has started on the design and construction of the new Durham Investigative Hub at DurhamGate for the Durham Constabulary.
Infrastructure, engineering and fit-out company Tilbury Douglas secured work on the project, which comprises a two-storey hub that will provide office space, 48 modern cells, interview rooms, crime scene investigation facilities alongside evidence stores and virtual courts.
The centralised suite will incorporate an improved environment for staff, detainees and visitors as well as health workers and legal professionals who will also work there.
The design approach adopted and use of modern technologies will lead to better police outcomes for victims of crime and create operational efficiencies, which will release officers to the front line.
