Year of “change and innovation” at cheese manufacturer

Turnover has passed £100m at a dairy processing company, which specialises in cheese predominantly used for pizzas, although profits dipped as a result of increased pricing. Despite this, directors hailed its strong balance sheet and outlined plans for significant investment in innovation.

Family-run Prima Cheese was established in 1996, with the Durham-headquartered company supplying wholesale food and catering businesses with cheese across the UK and globally.

In the year to 31 March 2023, turnover jumped from £91.9m to £121.6m while pre-tax profit dipped from £5m to £3.6m.
