Bellway wins coveted award for quality of work at new housing development

Bellway Durham has won a prestigious award for the quality of workmanship and site management at a housing development.

The housebuilder has won The Bricks Site Recognition Award from LABC (Local Authority Building Control) Warranty for its work at Barton Meadows.

A representative from LABC Warranty, which is one of the largest providers of structural warranties in the UK and works in partnership with more than 3,700 LABC surveyors, delivered the coveted award to the site team at Barton Meadows last month (March).

Sarah Sheppard, Technical Director at LABC Warranty, said: “It takes skill, commitment and a dedication to quality of construction for a site to receive The Bricks Site Recognition Award. Nothing pleases my team and I more than to see developments meet and maintain such high standards.”

Bellway Durham is building 60 properties at Barton Meadows, featuring 55 three and four-bedroom houses for private sale and five affordable homes available for local people through low-cost rent and shared ownership.

Andy Palmer, Construction Director for Bellway Durham, said: “It is a huge honour to receive this prestigious award from LABC Warranty and is testament to the quality of the work that is being delivered at Barton Meadows.

“The Bricks recognises the very best practices and workmanship of developers, builders and contractors who go the extra mile to deliver quality in construction at a development, so it is a real feather in the cap for the team at Barton Meadows.

“At Bellway, we aspire to the highest standards and this ethos has seen us recently awarded five-star builder status by the Home Builders Federation for the seventh year in a row. This means that more than 90 per cent of our customers said they would recommend us to a friend due to the quality of our work and the level of customer service we offer.

“We started construction at Barton Meadows last year and from day one, all staff at the development have been consistently producing excellent work on a daily basis. This award not only recognises the dedication of the site team but also reassures buyers because they know that when they purchase a new-build Bellway home at Barton Meadows they are securing a high-quality property from a top-class award-winning team.”

Barton Meadows was named in honour of RAF pilot Cyril Barton VC. He died in 1944 after crash-landing his plane in a field in Ryhope, avoiding houses and pit-head workings as the aircraft came down.

There’s currently a selection of three and four-bedroom new homes available to reserve at Barton Meadows, with prices starting at £204,995 and £309,995 respectively.
