Azets Accountants & Business Advisors – Crook Business Centre

Azets is the UK’s largest regional accountancy and business advisor to SMEs and is a top 10 UK accountancy business.

Azets supports c.120,000 clients across the UK and Europe. Clients range across all business sectors and include SMEs, large scale businesses, public sector organisations and private customers.

When the coronavirus pandemic hit in 2020, like most office-based businesses the Crook branch of Azets worked from home until government restrictions were relaxed. When workers started to return to the office, Azets adopted a more agile way of working whereby staff would work some of the week in the office and part of the week from home.

Paul Topham, Partner at Azets explains: “As restrictions eased, we quickly realised that it would be better for staff and the business to adopt a more agile way of working. We had larger offices nearby, during the pandemic the need for having those larger offices wasn’t there anymore. So, having a serviced office like we do at Crook Business Centre is ideal.”

Crook Business Centre is owned and managed by Business Durham, part of Durham County Council. As a former primary school, the building has a unique character boasting fourteen fully serviced offices ranging in size from 210 –538 sq ft. Recently refurbished by Durham County Council, demand for the smaller offices offered at Crook Business Centre has soared over the last six months as businesses started to return to the office.

Business Durham Property Manager for the South Anne Ellwood said: “We’ve seen demand for small offices rise more and more recently. Azets have been in the town for decades, they were looking to downsize their offices and Crook Business Centre was the perfect solution. The building is fully secured with 24/7 access, on-site parking and close to the town, which is perfect for businesses like Azets enabling them to easily service their local customer base.”

Business Durham has over 500 commercial properties throughout the county including offices, industrial units and laboratory space. Lots of tenants have occupied properties for many years and part of the reason behind this is the exceptional standards of the buildings maintained by the property team and colleagues working in Direct Services at Durham County Council.

Not only did Azets benefit from the recent renovations, but the move-in process was also simple, quick and easy as Paul Topham from Azets points out: “Moving into Crook Business Centre was really easy. We made contact, received excellent information on how much it would cost, how quickly we could move in and the services included. We’re very happy here and look forward to growing our business at Crook Business Centre for many years to come.”
