Engineering and Manufacturing Network (EMN)

The Durham Business Opportunities Programme (DBOP) supports the Engineering and Manufacturing Network (EMN).  The aim of the programme is to support the continued growth of the County Durham engineering and manufacturing industry.

The North East is home to thousands of companies working in the engineering and manufacturing sectors. This includes large multi-national brands, in addition to SMEs and micro businesses. Collectively, these businesses contribute billions of pounds to the local economy employing hundreds of thousands of people.

Our work with EMN supports the continued growth of the County Durham manufacturing and engineering sectors in a number of ways. For example, we help to identify supply chain opportunities by building a strong collaborative businesses network.

Another example would be the flagship Engineering and Manufacturing Conference organised by EMN. The conference annually showcases the very best of engineering and manufacturing in the North East. As a result this helps businesses find collaborative partnerships and discover new supply chain opportunities. The DBOP led Incubator Zone at EMCON provides micro businesses with the support, guidance and knowledge they need to exhibit at a large conference for the first time.

Hear from Operations director at EMN Ben Gilhespy about their work.

The Durham Business Opportunities Programme is a six-year programme for SMEs running up until November 2022, is funded through the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) and delivered by Business Durham, the economic development arm of Durham County Council.
