A major investment is set to boost electric vehicle charging across the North East, with hundreds of new charge points to be installed over the next three years.
The North East Combined Authority (NECA) has secured £15.8 million from the Government's Local Electric Vehicle Infrastructure (LEVI) Fund, aiming to deliver more than 1000 charge points by 2030.
Officials say the roll-out will prioritise residential streets without off-street parking, as well as rural and lower-income areas where commercial providers have been limited.
