Alice Gray, who owns Razor’s Edge Barber Shop on Market Street, Ferryhill, said she was shocked when she heard that the shop had been shortlisted for an Award.

Ms Gray, 36, said: “My mum and I have been running this shop for nearly thirty years. It’s our thirty-year anniversary next year.

Alice’s mum, Andrea Gray, took over the salon in 1997 and trained Alice in how to cut hair from the age of 15.
