Businesses from across Bishop Auckland, Shildon and the surrounding area came together this week for another successful Bishop Auckland and Shildon Business Network event, demonstrating once again the value of local collaboration, knowledge sharing and meaningful business connections.

Held at Bishop Auckland Golf Club, the free networking event welcomed businesses from a wide range of sectors for a morning of informal networking, practical advice and updates on the support available to help businesses grow.

Hosted by Business Durham, the network continues to provide an opportunity for businesses of all sizes to meet like-minded professionals, build relationships and discover new opportunities within the local business community.

Practical digital marketing advice from Digital Edge

A highlight of the morning was a presentation from Ian Proctor, Sales Director at Digital Edge, who shared practical guidance on how businesses can maximise the performance of their websites.

With digital marketing continuing to evolve at pace, Ian explored how businesses can improve their online visibility through effective Search Engine Optimisation (SEO) while also preparing for the growing influence of Generative Engine Optimisation (GEO). Attendees gained valuable insights into how customers are searching for information online, how AI is changing digital discovery, and the simple steps businesses can take to strengthen their online presence.

As a recognised Wix partner and full-service digital agency based at Aycliffe Business Park, Digital Edge's presentation provided useful takeaways for businesses looking to attract more customers and make better use of their websites.

More than networking

Alongside the guest presentation, attendees also received an update on the Durham Business Growth Programme and the range of support available through Business Durham.

From one-to-one business advice and specialist support to workshops and funding opportunities, the session highlighted the practical help available for businesses looking to start, grow or innovate.

One of the strengths of the Bishop Auckland and Shildon Business Network is the opportunity to hear directly from local businesses, share experiences and learn from others facing similar opportunities and challenges.

Whether businesses attended to make new contacts, seek advice or simply stay connected with the local business community, the morning provided plenty of opportunities for conversation and collaboration.

Building a stronger local business community

The Bishop Auckland and Shildon Business Network has been created to strengthen connections between businesses across the area, encouraging collaboration while providing regular access to expert speakers and business support.

The growing popularity of the network reflects the appetite for local events that combine valuable business information with genuine networking opportunities in a relaxed and welcoming environment.

By bringing together businesses from different sectors, the network helps spark new ideas, encourage partnerships and create conversations that continue long after the event has finished.
