A Consett opticians has supported a local amateur runner as she aims to raise thousands of pounds and buckets of awareness for charity.
Specsavers Consett on Middle Street has provided sponsorship for distance runner Natasha Alderson-Pollock, who recently completed the Tokyo Marathon, raising over £1,200 for Street Child in the process.
As well as their sponsor backing, the locally-owned and run store also provided fundraising support in-store for Street Child – a charity whose mission is to give children across the world the chance to go to school and build a brighter future.
Abirul Sultan, Director at Specsavers Consett, says: ‘We were delighted to sponsor Natasha as she completed this immense challenge for a brilliant charity.
‘We are very proud of her efforts and happy to have helped her raise such a big amount for Street Child.’
Natasha adds: ‘For more than 20 years, I’ve dedicated my life to working with children and young people – in locations ranging from schools and community groups to prisons, colleges, and care settings.
‘Throughout this journey, I’ve seen first-hand the challenges young people face when opportunities are limited, and I’ve also witnessed the incredible difference that the right support, education, and belief can make in transforming a life.
‘Street Child’s mission – to give children the chance to go to school and build a brighter future – deeply resonates with me. I know how powerful education and stability can be, and Street Child’s work brings that hope to some of the world’s most vulnerable children.
‘A huge thank you also to everyone at Specsavers Consett for all their support so far.’
