Low Carbon Materials Shortlisted for National Sustainability Award

Seaham-based cleantech firm Low Carbon Materials (LCM) has been named a finalist in the Environmental Sustainability Award category at the Highways Awards 2025.

The nomination, sponsored by Holcim UK, recognises LCM’s innovative work in sustainable infrastructure.

Operating from Jade Business Park in County Durham, LCM has developed ACLA®, a carbon-negative aggregate that is helping to reduce the environmental impact of road construction. The product is already being used by partners across the UK to build greener, more sustainable highways.

The winners will be announced at a ceremony on Tuesday, 23rd September, at the Park Plaza Westminster Bridge in London.
