County Durham school pupils learn about role of Parliament

County Durham students got the chance to put questions to peers in a living lesson on democracy.


Students from Staindrop Academy in Staindrop, near Barnard Castle, took part in the House of Lords’ 'Learn with the Lords Day', joining more than 400 pupils from across the UK for a visit to Parliament.


The event on Tuesday, January 20, gave students a rare glimpse inside the workings of the House of Lords through a tour of the Houses of Parliament.
