NETPark-based CPI, a leading technology innovation centre, has joined forces with FluoRok and Coventry University to deliver the UK’s first demonstrator plant for the production of Lithium Hexafluorophosphate (LiPF₆)—a critical chemical used in lithium-ion batteries for electric vehicles (EVs).
The project, backed by a £1.5 million Demonstrate grant under the Department for Business and Trade’s £2.5 billion DRIVE35 programme, marks a significant step forward in securing the UK’s battery materials supply chain. The new facility will be built using FluoRok’s innovative fluorochemical manufacturing process, enabling large-scale, sustainable production of LiPF.
