Decision expected on £85 million satellite facility at NETPark

A Government decision on Lockheed Martin's proposed £85 million satellite manufacturing facility at NETPark in Sedgefield is expected before Christmas, according to recent reporting by Bdaily.
The proposed development could create 500 jobs and support around 2,000 wider jobs across the North East, manufacturing and testing satellites for UK defence and security operations.
Speaking to Bdaily, Chris Spicer, Lockheed Martin Space's Regional Director for the UK and Europe, confirmed the company's commitment to the North East, with initial groundworks already underway at NETPark.
The proposals represent a significant opportunity for NETPark, which is managed by Business Durham, and the wider regional space sector.
