Durham's newest gallery opens for dinner: 7 Paintings comes to Radisson Blu Durham

The immersive dining show brings seven courses, seven artists and 3D projection art to the city from 28 November, running through December and into 2027
Radisson Blu Durham will launch 7 Paintings, an immersive dinner show that combines fine dining with projection art, on Saturday 28 November 2026, with dates running through December and into 2027. This is the first time the experience has come to Durham.
7 Paintings is a seven-course dinner where each course is inspired by a different world-famous artist. 3D projection brings the artists' work to life on guests' plates and across the dining room. During the evening, guests take part in the show: they solve da Vinci's riddles, guess the artist and create their own Pollock-style action painting with edible colours.
The menu, prepared by the Radisson Blu Durham kitchen team, takes diners on a journey through art history and around the world:
• Michelangelo | Italy: salmon rillette in a shell crostini
• Banksy | United Kingdom: charcuterie meats, truffle mayonnaise, sakura cress, olive soil and toasted olive bread
• Cubism inspired by Pablo Picasso | Spain: sea bream fillet, lemon-celery salad and garlic-red wine essence
• Action Painting inspired by Jackson Pollock | USA: a vegetable painting created by guests at the table
• Andy Warhol | USA: grilled beef tenderloin, sweet potato, glazed snow peas and balsamic jus
• Surrealism inspired by Dalí | Spain: crema catalana, salted caramel ice cream, berries and mint
• Vincent van Gogh | Netherlands: chocolate painting, citrus cake and a trio of chocolate sauces
The experience runs for around 2.5 to 3 hours. Launching at the start of the Christmas season, it offers a Christmas night out with a twist for work parties, friends and families, then continues into the new year as a new option for date nights, celebrations and client entertaining.
Stuart Lloyd, General Manager at Radisson Blu Durham, said:
"When we first saw 7 Paintings, the whole team had the same reaction: Durham needs this. People don't just want a nice meal anymore; they want an experience they can share. 7 Paintings is part dinner, part theatre and part art gallery and it gives our kitchen team the chance to create seven courses inspired by some of the world's best-known artists. We can't wait to open the doors to Durham's newest 'gallery' on 28 November, and to welcoming guests right through Christmas and into the new year."
Ahead of the public launch, the hotel will host a private view evening on Friday 27 November.
