Hundreds of students are being offered free security measures to help protect their bicycles from theft as part of a scheme funded by Durham University and the police and crime commissioner.
The scheme, running in Durham City, provides students with anti-theft bike reflectors, Gold Standard bike locks, and tamper-proof identification stickers that link to the police-approved Bike Register database via QR code.
Durham and Darlington Police and Crime Commissioner Joy Allen said: "Students have warmly welcomed these increased anti-theft measures and are doing what they can to reduce the opportunity for thieves to strike.
