Businesses from across East Durham and County Durham gathered at Lighthouse View Workspace in Seaham today for the latest East Durham Business Network (EDBN) meeting, bringing together professionals from a range of sectors for a morning of networking, knowledge sharing and business updates.

The event began with an update from Leanne Fawcett, who shared news from across the network and provided information on the latest edition of the East Durham Business Magazine.

Attendees then heard from Brad Haywood and Ian Jarvis of Clive Owen LLP, who introduced the work of the firm and the support they provide to businesses across the region. Their presentation, The Technology Enabled Finance Function: Efficiency, Effectiveness and Higher-Quality Insight, explored how businesses can use technology to streamline financial processes, improve efficiency and gain access to higher-quality financial data to support business growth and decision-making.

The meeting also featured a presentation from Emma Readman of Embers HR Consulting, who delivered a session titled Beyond HR: How Future-Focused People Strategy Helps Businesses Grow. Emma highlighted the importance of aligning people strategies with business objectives and how investing in people can help organisations attract, retain and develop talent while supporting long-term success.

Alongside the guest presentations, attendees had plenty of opportunities to connect with fellow businesses, exchange ideas and discuss potential partnerships. The networking session, facilitated by Michelle Mann from Business Durham, encouraged businesses to introduce their organisations, share recent successes and highlight the support they were looking for, helping to spark new conversations and opportunities across the network.

The East Durham Business Network continues to provide a valuable platform for businesses to build meaningful connections, gain insights from expert speakers and stay informed about developments within the local business community.

To take advantage of future networking opportunities and hear from a range of guest speakers, sign up for the next East Durham Business Network meeting and connect with businesses from across the region.
