A new initiative bringing together businesses, charities and philanthropists has been launched to help expand opportunities for young people across County Durham, Darlington, Hartlepool and Stockton.

The Giving Coalition, launched by Dr Arnab Basu MBE DL, the High Sheriff of the County Palatine of Durham, in partnership with Point North, aims to raise funds for the High Sheriff Youth Awards 2027, providing grants to grassroots organisations supporting the region’s next generation.

The coalition was officially unveiled during a reception at Durham Castle, following the Matins service for His Majesty’s Courts of Justice, with civic leaders, businesses and community representatives invited to pledge their support.
