Northumbrian Water has invested £6.4m in the upgrades to Kelloe Sewage Treatment Works (STW), which will help to improve water quality in the Coxhoe Beck and watercourses downstream, including the River Wear.

The work on site, which has taken around 20 months and has been carried out by the company’s partners, Esh-Stantec and Retroflo, is part of its Water Industry National Environmental Programme.
Upgrades to Kelloe STW include new pumps and tanks, adding resilience to the site and the services it provides.
