A new housing project in County Durham is set to deliver “much-needed” homes for residents needing extra care and support.

Karbon Homes has submitted plans for 211 supported apartments at the centre of Seaham Garden Village, part of its 750-home affordable housing development within the 78-hectare site.

Proposals include a 118-unit extra care scheme and two apartment blocks for over-55s.

The four-storey development will feature landscaped courtyards, communal lounges, a café, hair salon, treatment rooms and a rooftop terrace with sea views, with eighteen apartments designed for dementia care and three for bariatric residents.
