Prom night is always a memorable occasion – but for one County Durham student, it became truly unforgettable, thanks to a heartwarming gesture from Bowburn-based haulage company, Katem Logistics.
The company, already well known for its support of rising motorsport star Thomas Potter (TPot), turned the spotlight onto someone else very special – his sister, Rebecca.
Now with nearly 2 million views across social media, Rebecca’s prom arrival in Katem’s striking anniversary truck has captured hearts across the country. The bold blue truck – freshly painted to celebrate the 90th birthday of Katem’s much-loved "Commander-in-Chief" – made quite the entrance, turning heads and earning admiration for its originality and sentiment.
Behind the wheel was Matthew Chaganis, Director at Katem Logistics, who personally ensured Rebecca arrived in style. His thoughtful gesture didn’t go unnoticed – he was warmly thanked by Mrs Burton, Headteacher at Belmont Community School, for making the night so special and for Katem’s support of both the school and its students.
Katem Logistics is no stranger to championing young talent. They’ve recently started backing Thomas Potter after his six karting championships and are supporting him in the world of car racing, where he’s continuing to impress. But this time, it was Rebecca’s turn to shine – and thanks to her brother’s sponsors, she arrived feeling like a true VIP.
“It was a proud moment for all of us,” said Matthew. “Rebecca’s reaction, the excitement from her classmates, and the response online have been overwhelming. At Katem, we’re a family-run business and community means everything to us. Supporting Thomas has been an honour – and this felt like a wonderful way to celebrate another young person in his life.”
From the racetrack to prom night, Katem Logistics continues to go the extra mile – both on the road and in the community.
