Major Team Growth as Caddick Fulfils North East Growth Ambition

Caddick Construction has welcomed a host of new faces to its rapidly growing North East team with a series of new operational, commercial and project appointments as the contractor presses ahead with its planned regional expansion.

The team growth saw 18 new recruits join in 2025 following the launch of Caddick’s Durham office, with a further four appointments so far in 2026, all of which are now delivering a growing pipeline of work.

This includes Placefirst’s major build-to-rent scheme, Galley’s View in Sunderland, and DPD Forrest Park in Durham where Caddick has also deployed its specialist sub-contracting business, Caddick Civil Engineering.

Amongst the appointments are Chris Musson who joins as Commercial Manager and new Operations Manager, Dan Dodsworth. Both are graduates of Northumbria University who bring a collective 30 years of industry experience to their new roles.

Based in Caddick’s Durham office at Belmont Business Park, the new team members span a broad spectrum of positions, including planning, pre-construction, project management, site safety and aftercare.

Also joining the team are two commercial apprentices, Connie Bell and Jake Dickinson, the first in a line of work-based learning recruits as Caddick ramps up its workforce investment  across the North East.

New Commercial Manager, Chris Musson, commented: “While the North East represents new opportunities for Caddick, the business itself has a strong and established presence, and I’m looking forward to helping build a resilient commercial team. For me, it’s about being visible as a leader, supporting bid activity and strategy, and developing a team that can grow with the business.”

Having spent 10 years at Willmott Dixon in both Newcastle and London, Chris has extensive experience across pre-construction and commercial delivery, working on a range of commercial, high-rise residential, leisure and heritage projects.

Newly appointed Operations Manager, Dan Dodsworth, added: “Caddick has identified and is addressing a real gap in the North East market, and has a strong and growing pipeline of work as a result. It’s a dynamic, agile business and that’s an exciting environment to be part of. I’m looking forward to overseeing multiple projects across the North East and working closely with teams on site to ensure high standards of quality, safety and delivery.”

Dan previously held the role of Senior Project Manager at Wates, where he led major higher education developments, including Bios Central Laboratories and Digital Life at Teesside University.

Alongside his extensive experience delivering complex construction projects across Yorkshire and the North East, Dan also brings a passion for developing staff and talent, which will be critical during Caddick’s growth and expansion.

Steve Ford, Regional Managing Director of Caddick Construction North East and Yorkshire, commented: “The launch of our Durham office was our statement of intent for the North East, and the growth of the team since has reflected both the strength of the regional market and the confidence clients have in Caddick. We are investing in experienced leadership, emerging talent and apprenticeships to build a team with local knowledge and capability. With a strong pipeline of work already secured, our team’s expansion puts us in an excellent position to deliver high-quality, safe and sustainable projects across the region.”
