A North East-wide travel initiative is helping families cut holiday costs with free bus travel for children this summer.

The region’s Kids Go Free scheme, led by North East mayor Kim McGuinness, will run from July 19 to August 31 across bus services in County Durham, Tyne and Wear and Northumberland.

It allows up to three children aged eleven and under to travel for free with any fare-paying adult or concessionary pass holder.
