Ministerial letter on cyber security to small businesses

Ministers and the National Cyber Security Centre wrote a letter to small businesses and business representative organisations about cyber security.

The letter sets out two key actions small business owners and entrepreneurs can take to improve their cyber resilience:

 • Use the new Cyber Action Toolkit, a free, personalised cyber security solution from experts at the National Cyber Security Centre (NCSC) which sets out simple, achievable steps for small businesses.

• Adopt Cyber Essentials, the government’s highly effective scheme to protect against common cyber-attacks. It includes free cyber insurance, access to a 24/7 emergency helpline and opens doors to government contracts and enhanced business opportunities.

If businesses do face an incident, help is available round the clock. Fraud and cybercrime can be reported to Action Fraud. The letter has been sent to a wide range of industry trade bodies and business representative organisations, which are encouraged to share this information with their members and networks.
