Plans for new affordable homes have been praised for helping transform a County Durham village.
Durham County Council’s application to build 32 houses in Burnhope was approved by a planning committee on Thursday.
The social rent units will be built on land at Greenwood Avenue as part of the local authority’s Council Homes programme, which aims to deliver 500 new affordable homes across County Durham. The Burnhope site is one of three which form the initial stage of the programme, with other developments being built in Seaham and Spennymoor.
