Newton Aycliffe community project given boost from County Durham employer

A community project in Newton Aycliffe has been given a grant to help develop the skills and confidence of its young 'champions'.

The Five Acres Community Garden CIC has received a £2,000 grant from the Banks Group, a County Durham employer.

The grant will be used to buy new woodworking equipment and accessories for a workshop at their new headquarters in Brafferton.

The community interest company aims to provide a unique service for more than 40 young adults with additional needs, who are referred to as champions.
