North East universities and global firm develop low-carbon footprint chemical guide

An 18-month partnership between Durham and Newcastle universities and Procter & Gamble has led to the development of a comprehensive framework to assess technologies and manufacturing methods aimed at industrial decarbonisation.

An 18-month partnership between Durham and Newcastle universities and Procter & Gamble has led to the development of a comprehensive framework to assess technologies and manufacturing methods aimed at industrial decarbonisation.


The framework is designed to support stakeholders in the chemical manufacturing sector by helping them make informed decisions about which low-carbon processes to pursue.

It covers key assessment areas, including lifecycle assessment, technoeconomic assessment and relevant government policy considerations.
