Coldberry Hall Ltd wants to revamp and change the use of the grade II-listed Kingsway Adventure Centre, based on Alston Road in Middleton-in-Teesdale.

Originally built as a Victorian School by the London Lead Mining Company, the property is now occasionally used by school parties and youth groups.

A statement submitted with the plans said that it is "in need of financial investment to facilitate maintenance and general modernisation".

The building is set in a square plot with formal gardens to the front and off-street parking to the rear. A separate detached building is being retained by the current owner as a dwelling and is not included in the application.
