Durham County Council backed the change of use of a large industrial unit on Cook Way, at the North West Industrial Estate in Peterlee, from storage and distribution to an indoor sports and recreation facility.
The development, submitted by applicant Steven Burn, will see the building converted into a padel venue featuring 12 courts, as well as a seating area, office and changing facilities.
The site is currently used for storage and distribution and is surrounded by other industrial and commercial premises. Existing parking at the front of the building will be retained for visitors.
