Quarry Tea House Nominated for Best Café in National Awards

An independent café in Hunwick is encouraging customers and the wider community to show their support as it prepares to compete for a national award later this month.
Quarry Tea House, owned by Julie Bell, has been named a Grand Finalist in the 2026 England’s Business Awards, putting the County Durham business in the running to be crowned Best Café nationally.
The nomination follows an exciting achievement earlier this year, when Quarry Tea House was awarded Best Café in County Durham at the regional awards ceremony held at the Hilton Newcastle Gateshead on 22 March 2026.

Now, Julie & the team is looking ahead to the national final, which will take place in Birmingham on 23 November 2026, and is encouraging customers, regular visitors and supporters to get behind the café by casting their votes.
This latest recognition adds to an impressive awards history for the business. In 2022, Quarry Tea House was named Best Tea Room in Tyne and Wear before going on to win Best Tea Room nationally later that year.
Winning another national title would be a fantastic achievement for the independent café and further recognition for County Durham’s hospitality businesses.
With the final just three weeks away, Julie is hoping the local community will help bring another award home to County Durham.
