Spennymoor shop site blooms into garden

A long-vacant town centre site in County Durham has been transformed into a new green space.
The empty unit on Festival Walk, in Spennymoor, has been demolished and redeveloped by Durham County Council into a landscaped community garden.
After efforts to find a new owner proved unsuccessful, the council opted to revitalise the space following the development of two nearby sites.
