Supermarket giant moves forward with plans for new store in County Durham

The proposed store would include Lidl’s bakery, its popular “Middle of Lidl” range, customer toilets with baby-changing facilities, and sustainability features such as solar panels and electric vehicle charging points.

Lidl is moving forward with plans to open a new supermarket in County Durham, and is calling on residents to share their views.

The supermarket giant is proposing a state-of-the-art store on land off Picktree Lane in Chester-le-Street. The development, part of a multi-million-pound investment, would create around 40 new jobs in the area.
