Swinburne Maddison Announces Key Promotions Following Record Year

One of the North East’s leading law firms, Swinburne Maddison LLP, has announced a series of internal promotions, recognising the outstanding contributions of several team members following a record year for the firm.
Five lawyers have been promoted to Managing Associate and two to Associate, as the firm continues to grow its team and reinforce its long-term investment in talent and leadership.
Among those promoted is Amy Pyman, a solicitor in the Private Client team who has built a strong reputation for her work on estate planning, trusts, and Court of Protection matters. A full STEP member, Amy is praised for her empathetic and practical approach.
In the Dispute Resolution team, Jenna Keir-Kendrew has also been promoted to Managing Associate. Since joining the firm in 2022, she has quickly distinguished herself in contentious probate and inheritance matters, delivering clear, client-focused advice with strategic insight.
Within the Corporate and Commercial team, both Matt Ray and Rebecca Logue have been promoted to Managing Associate. Matt specialises in tax-efficient restructures, succession planning and employee incentives, acting for a wide range of owner-managed businesses. Rebecca, who joined the team in 2024, brings significant experience in mergers, acquisitions, and joint ventures, particularly within the hospitality and manufacturing sectors.
Rebecca Harper, a long-standing member of the Residential Property team, also steps up to Managing Associate. Her work spans a wide range of transactions, including acting for social housing providers, where her attention to detail and strong client relationships have made her a key member of the team.
Kelly Jefferson, from the Dispute Resolution team, and Mary Feather, from the Commercial Property team, have both been promoted to Associate. Kelly, who qualified via the CILEx route, is known for her technical skill and commercial understanding in litigation matters, while Mary advises clients on a broad range of commercial and agricultural property issues.

The announcement comes at a pivotal time for the firm, which now has a headcount of 90 and recently unveiled a refreshed brand identity. The rebrand—developed in partnership with a strategic marketing agency—goes beyond visual changes, capturing the firm’s values and its modern approach under the brand message: “A contemporary law firm rooted in tradition.” The tagline “Reassuring to know” reflects the confidence and support clients feel when working with the firm.
Moreland added: “Our strategic rebrand has galvanised the team and created a strong platform for future growth. We are incredibly proud of what we’ve achieved and even more excited about what lies ahead.”
