The Dunelm Chippy to open in Durham city near Elvet Bridge

A new fish and chip shop is set to make a splash in Durham city centre after signage appeared in the window of a former tea room just yards from Elvet Bridge.
Fresh posters now cover the frontage of the distinctive cream and blue building, promising The Dunelm Chippy is “coming soon” and showing an artist’s impression of the revamped shopfront, complete with outdoor seating.
The property, which has stood empty in recent months, sits on a busy route between Elvet Bridge and Saddler Street – putting the chippy in a prime position to catch passing students, shoppers and tourists.
