The Inclusive Employer Network - Recruiting, Retaining and Supporting Neurodivergent and Disabled Staff

We would like to invite your organisation to attend the next Inclusive Employer Network event. It is a growing network of businesses committed to ensuring that the County Durham workforce reflects the diversity within our local community through inclusive employment practices.

The next Inclusive Employer Network Event takes place on 24 September 2026, between 9.00am and 12 noon at Consett AFC and there are still spaces available to attend.

Whether you’re already committed to inclusive employment or just starting out, the this is the perfect opportunity to learn, connect and help your organisation make a positive impact in the community.

The event will feature a practical training session led by DurhamEnable’s Carole Williamson, an experienced trainer and proud AuDHD professional. Carole will share valuable insights on how employers can effectively recruit, support, and retain neurodivergent and disabled people within their workforce. Attendees will also gain a greater understanding of inclusive recruitment practices, workplace adjustments, and the benefits that a diverse workforce can bring to an organisation.

We are also delighted to welcome Ella Bains, Founder of Eric Knows, a business leading by example in creating an accessible and inclusive working environment of their staff. Ella will be joined by Emma, one of her employees, who will share her personal experiences of working at Eric Knows and the positive impact that an inclusive workplace has had on her career and confidence.

Adding a unique perspective, Emma's parent will also join the discussion, providing a powerful insight into the difference that meaningful employment and supportive employers can make to individuals and their families.

This is an excellent opportunity for employers, HR professionals and business leaders to learn from real-life experiences, network with like-minded organisations, and explore practical ways to create workplaces where everyone can thrive.

We look forward to welcoming you to Consett AFC on 24th September. Please email us at durhamenable@durham.gov.uk to find out more and register to attend.
