A new housing development in County Durham is set to provide dozens of affordable homes.

Durham County Council has started work on 32 new council homes in Burnhope as part of its wider plan to deliver hundreds of new properties across the county over the next five years.

The Greenwood Avenue scheme, which is being built in partnership with local contractor T. Manners & Sons, will feature a mix of two-bedroom bungalows and two, three and four-bedroom houses designed to suit families, couples and older residents.

Groundworks are now underway, with completion expected in autumn 2026.
