A new £2.2 million fund is being launched to help small venues and emerging performers across the North East weather rising costs and continue nurturing regional talent, it has been announced.
Created by North East Mayor Kim McGuinness, the Small Venues Fund aims to support creative spaces and protect the grassroots environments where performers often take their first steps.
Mayor McGuinness said: "Our incredible grassroots venues are under threat, yet they bring so much to our region.
"They’re places where artists perform for the first time, friends come together and memories are made.
