Newton Aycliffe training provider champions women in construction

Optimum Skills is highlighting the role women can play in construction, an industry where only 15 per cent of the UK workforce is female.

Based in Newton Aycliffe, the training provider has an all-female senior leadership team and a workforce made up largely of women.

Chief executive Diane Shakespeare said the organisation is committed to improving diversity while helping thousands of young people gain qualifications and start careers in trades such as roofing, joinery and bricklaying.
