Council breaks ground on town leisure scheme


Work has officially started on a County Durham leisure centre and library development.

Work has officially started on a County Durham leisure centre and library development.


Durham County Council has broken ground on a Bishop Auckland scheme. The project will replace Woodhouse Close Leisure Centre and Woodhouse Close Library.


The base will feature a library, two swimming pools, a gym, exercise studios, sauna and steam room, soft play centre and café.


Work is expected to be completed in 2027.
